Plot Twist: Adulthood Is Just Wanting a Nice Coat

Plot Twist: Adulthood Is Just Wanting a Nice Coat

Do I love coats and jackets now because my frontal lobe has finally developed? And can my mom sue me for emotional damages after I spent the first 25 years of my life arguing with her about wearing anything remotely resembling a warm layer? Asking for a friend.

I turned 25 in 2024, and with that seems to have come an obsession with owning as many coats and jackets as humanly possible. Seriously. I have gone from never so much as looking at them online or in store; essentially hypothermic from November through February, to having such intense tunnel vision that I'm on the verge of having nothing BUT outerwear to make an outfit from.

It has gotten so bad (good?) in fact, that loved ones are actually recommending I put myself on a new jacket ban. Much to my distress, the suggestion has been made one too many times for me to consider it a joke, and I am now in the midst of said ban. What no-one mentioned, however, was window shopping for them. So, in lieu of actually being able to buy them for myself, here are all the swoon-worthy jackets I would like to have checked out with recently…

Leather parka with gathered waist - Women | MANGO United Kingdom

This Mango leather parker is actually to die for. The cinched waist gives the jacket such a flattering silhouette.

Helsa The Lady Hunting Jacket With Faux Leather Collar in Storm | REVOLVE

Helsa is the ultimate outerwear brand in my opinion. Whether you’re looking for a simple wool coat or a statement piece you are going to find what you’re looking for with the most divine tailoring you’ve ever seen thrown in as the cherry on top. I’ve been flirting with the idea of their hunting jacket in particular for a while now.

Bambi PRE ORDER – CARELLI

The Bambi jacket by Carelli stops me in my tracks every time I see it. I love that it strays from the more traditional prints (or lack thereof) that we see on faux fur. This, combined with the rich tones and statement cuffs create a super luxe, vintage feel without losing its edge.

Padded Suede Jacket, Brown – SourceUnknown

I am a sucker for a suede jacket and the fact this one comes in the perfect shade of brown is not making my ‘new jacket ban’ any easier to stick to.

Lightly Padded jacket – Dark Blue – Women – ARKET GB

This lightly padded jacket from Arket feels both sporty and feminine. You can’t go wrong with this shade of blue either.

Collared suede jacket - Brown - Ladies | H&M GB

I did say I was a sucker for a suede jacket and this one is no exception. The contrast collar is what really sells it to me though.

SHAWL-COLLAR SUEDE BOMBER JACKET - BEIGE | COS GB

Another suede jacket here (shock horror) but this time from COS. I love the shade and neckline of this.

The Arden Coat Fuchsia Shaw Womenswear – FUCHSIA SHAW

A jacket that actually makes me look forward to the next time I have to get dressed for a rainy day? I never thought I’d see the day. Fuschia Shaw is a brand I’ve been following since 2021 and the evolution of their designs has been so fun to see play out. This Arden jacket in Poppy is one of their very best.
