An evening celebrating ALLEGRA, the latest icon from GUESS, became a reminder that great fashion doesn't belong to an age. It belongs to an attitude.

There are certain brands that become part of your fashion history. You remember wearing them the first time around, the campaigns that defined an era, the pieces you saved for, and then, rather wonderfully, you watch the next generation discover them for themselves.
For me, GUESS is one of those brands.
And stepping into GUESS on Oxford Street for an evening celebrating ALLEGRA, its latest statement bag, reminded me exactly why.

This is a brand that has always understood glamour. Not the quiet, apologetic sort, but fashion that wants to be noticed. Denim that fits beautifully. Strong silhouettes. A flash of hardware. A fabulous heel. A bag that can completely change the attitude of an outfit.
But what struck me most on this visit was just how broad the GUESS world has become.
Fashion Without an Age Limit
We talk constantly about fashion becoming more inclusive, but age is still one of the areas where the industry has a tendency to put women into boxes.
At 20, apparently you should dress one way. At 30, another. Reach 40 or 50 and suddenly an entirely new set of imaginary rules appears.

I have never subscribed to that.
Style is about understanding yourself. It is knowing what makes you feel good, what suits your body and, perhaps most importantly, what gives you confidence when you walk out of the door.
That is where the Oxford Street GUESS store really delivers.
You can walk through the collections with a daughter, a friend, a mother or a sister and each come away with something completely different. There is youthful, playful fashion alongside beautifully cut tailoring, great denim, evening pieces, accessories and those wonderfully unapologetic flashes of GUESS glamour.
It isn’t about dressing younger. Nor is it about dressing “for your age.”
It is about dressing like yourself.
Meet Allegra

And then there is the bag.
ALLEGRA feels like the perfect expression of the GUESS woman right now: confident, polished and unapologetically sexy.
A new bag, a new attitude and a little after-dark glamour.
The thing I love about a great accessory is its ability to do far more than simply complement an outfit. The right bag can completely define it. It can take something understated and give it attitude, or provide the final piece of polish to a full evening look.
Allegra does exactly that.
It has presence without feeling overly complicated, and that makes it incredibly wearable. It is the sort of bag that works with tailoring, denim and a heel during the day, but feels completely at home when the lights go down.
For our evening on Oxford Street, there was really only one way to wear it.
Head-to-toe GUESS.

Because sometimes more really is more.
Sharp silhouettes, high-gloss glamour and Allegra on my arm. It was a look made for after dark.
The Return of Dressing Up
Perhaps that was what I enjoyed most about the evening: it celebrated the pleasure of actually getting dressed.
We have spent several seasons embracing quiet luxury, minimalism and pared-back wardrobes. There will always be a place for all three, but I am delighted that glamour is having its moment again.
There is joy in putting on the jacket that changes your posture. In choosing the slightly higher heel. In wearing the statement earring. In carrying the bag that gets noticed.
Fashion should occasionally make your heart beat a little faster.
GUESS has never been frightened of that idea.
Chocolate leather. Racing stripes. Olive suede. A pointed boot and a flash of gold. Part 70s icon, part London after dark. Proof that head-to-toe GUESS can feel grown-up, sexy and completely modern. GUESS Girl, always
