The Hotel Guru Effect: Why Voyages & Vanity Trust It - and Why I’m Part of the Guru Circle

Gemma Sheppard brings more than 20 years of experience across luxury, entertainment and high street fashion. Her career spans collaborations with leading designers including Tom Ford, Alexander McQueen, Isabella Blow, Stella McCartney, Daphne Guinness and Jaeger, alongside work with global talent and major television productions such as Channel 5’s 10 Years Younger In 10 Days.

She is known for spotting shifts early and acting on them fast. In 2024, Gemma partnered with UK metaverse studio Dubit and gaming platform Roblox. The project saw her appointed Metaverse Global Fashion Director, making her the first stylist to work professionally in digital space. She has since launched a fashion and lifestyle brand, anchored by Voyages & Vanity, a monthly print newspaper. The 12 page publication blends retro and contemporary fashion with beauty, health, wellness, interiors, travel and cultural commentary, aimed at style aware and curious women.

Gemma began her career at Tiffany & Co under Rosa Monckton MBE. This led to a director role at Boucheron within the Gucci Group and a series of senior creative projects across the industry.

Alongside editorial and brand work, she runs SheppardStyle, a successful style consultancy with high profile clients in music and television. She became lead stylist on The X Factor in 2014, joined Britain’s Got Talent the following year, and spent many seasons working on ITV’s Dancing On Ice. She currently holds the role of Global Creative Fashion Director for Universal Music’s family brand Kidz Bop.

In 2016, Gemma co founded Saluting Style with TV presenter Emma Forbes, which evolved into a weekly podcast for women aged 40 plus. The Gemma and Emma podcast featured guests including Jamie Oliver, Kelly Hoppen, Alan Carr, Eamonn Holmes, Sharon Osbourne and Jasmine Hemsley, and was later commissioned by British Airways for its High Life in flight entertainment.

Based between the UK and Ibiza, and a mother of three teenagers, Gemma remains a trusted voice in fashion. She is a former fashion editor at White Ibiza magazine and a regular commentator for CNN, This Morning and BBC Radio London. Her consultancy and collaboration work includes international brands such as Hammonds, Mini UK, DFS Group, Miele, Vision Express, Nu Skin and Mercedes Benz. Gemma is founder and editor of travel and lifestyle blog Voyages and Vanity.
